Why do I have a gumball sized lump on my ?

Hi, I am a 23 year old female. I discovered a lump on my right (about the size of a gumball) at about the age of 18. I had a doctor take a look around age 20, and he said it was unlikely for it to be cancer...but no tissue sample was ever taken out due to financial issues..what could it be?
